Biography of Henrik Tallinder
Early Life and CareerHenrik Tallinder is a professional Swedish ice hockey player, born in Stockholm, Sweden. He began his hockey career in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres after being drafted 48th overall in the 1997 draft. Tallinder quickly established himself as a skilled defenseman, known for his high-level playing style.
Controversy and Comeback
In 2005, Tallinder, along with two other Swedish players, Kristian Huselius and Andreas Lilja, became involved in a scandal involving alleged sexual assault. The trio was suspended from playing for the Swedish national team and were subsequently released from their respective clubs. However, the charges were eventually dropped, and by June of the same year, all accusations against Tallinder and his teammates were dismissed.
Professional Achievements
Throughout his career, Tallinder faced several injuries, including a broken left arm in 2006, which kept him out of the playoffs. Unfortunately, he suffered the same injury again during the 2006-2007 season. Despite these setbacks, Tallinder continued to excel on the ice, becoming the first defenseman for the Buffalo Sabres to score a shootout goal in 2008. He also represented Sweden in the Olympics, with the team winning silver in 2014 and gold in the IIHF World Championship in 2013.
