Born in rural Indiana, Blasdel's early life was spent as a farmer, storekeeper, and riverboat captain. In 1861, he was elected as a justice of the peace in Storey County, Nevada, where he presided over civil and criminal cases.
Governorship and Accomplishments
In 1864, Blasdel ascended to the governorship and was re-elected in 1866. During his administration, he oversaw the state's transition from the Civil War and implemented policies aimed at fostering economic growth and infrastructure development.
Post-Governorship
In 1891, Blasdel relocated to Oakland, California, with his family. He passed away on July 22, 1900, leaving behind a legacy as Nevada's first Republican governor and a prominent figure in the state's early history.
