Biography of Hillary Dawn Scott
Early Life and CareerHillary Dawn Scott is an American country singer and songwriter. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee, to musician and producer Lang Scott and country singer Linda Davis. Growing up, Scott was not initially interested in pursuing a career in music due to the time it took away from her parents. However, she performed her first concert alongside her mother during a family Christmas show in her high school years. After the show, her mother convinced her to give professional music a chance. Scott graduated from high school in 2004 and began her music career. She collaborated with singer and songwriter Victoria Shaw, which brought her some recognition, but she still dreamed of securing a major record deal. She tried out for the reality show "American Idol" twice but was unsuccessful.
Formation of Lady Antebellum
Scott's career took off after she met future bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood. She met Kelley in a Nashville bar and had already listened to his work on MySpace. Shortly after their introduction, Kelley and Scott started discussing the possibility of working together. Eventually, they formed the country rock group 'Lady Antebellum' with Haywood. Joining the group benefited Scott professionally as it alleviated the pressure she felt during solo performances. 'Lady Antebellum' signed a contract with the Nashville division of 'Capitol Records.' Their first single, 'Love Don't Live Here,' was released on October 2, 2007, and reached the third position on the country music charts in early 2008. On April 15, 2008, the band released their debut album, which topped the 'Billboard' country album chart.
Success and Collaborations
The group's second single, 'Lookin' for a Good Time,' released in mid-2008, did not perform as well as their first single. However, their third single, 'I Run to You,' reached the top of the country music charts in July. In August 2009, 'Lady Antebellum' released the lead single, 'Need You Now,' from their second album, which stayed at number one on the country music chart for five consecutive weeks. The album itself was released on January 26, 2010, and achieved triple platinum status. In May 2011, the band released the single 'Just a Kiss,' a precursor to their third album.
Apart from her work with 'Lady Antebellum,' Scott's musical career extended beyond the band. She provided background vocals for Luke Bryan's song 'Do I,' which was co-written by Kelley and Haywood. Scott also collaborated with Dave Barnes and Maroon 5 on separate duets. Additionally, she wrote songs for other country artists, including Blake Shelton's 'Suffocating.'
Personal Life
In the summer of 2010, Scott began dating Chris Tyrrell, the drummer for the country trio 'Love and Theft.' They met while performing together on Tim McGraw's 'Southern Voice Tour.'
