Hesham Zazou - Egyptian Entrepreneur and Political Figure
Hesham Zazou is an Egyptian entrepreneur and political figure who has been serving as the Minister of Tourism in Egypt since 2012. He is part of the non-Islamist group of ministers in Hesham Qandil's cabinet. Tourism is one of the most important sources of income for Egypt, making the position of Minister of Tourism highly significant. Zazou assumed this important role on August 2, 2012, and has already earned considerable recognition, albeit on a national level.

Early Life and Education
Zazou was born in 1954. In 1980, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Arts, specializing in commerce, from Ain Shams University. He applied his acquired knowledge in the field of commerce at the City Bank Group in Cairo for five years before transitioning into the tourism industry. He established a successful tourism agency in the United States, primarily focusing on trips to Egypt. This project not only brought him financial success but also garnered attention from influential individuals.

Professional Career
From 2004 to 2007, Zazou served as the Chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Federation. Under President Hosni Mubarak, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Tourism. After the revolution, Zazou became the Senior Assistant to former Minister of Tourism Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour. On August 2, 2012, Zazou himself became the Minister of Tourism in Hesham Qandil's cabinet.

Tourism Industry Crisis
Facing the tragic events on the Sinai Peninsula in August 2012, where 16 Egyptian soldiers were killed by unknown assailants who fled to Israel and were subsequently killed by local military forces, Zazou officially stated that this incident would not have a negative impact on the country's tourism industry. According to Zazou, tour agencies did not cancel any pre-booked tours even after the attack. He personally contacted each of these agencies to monitor the situation.
Resignation and Continued Service
Zazou submitted his resignation on July 1, 2013, in protest against the appointment of a representative from the Construction and Development party, affiliated with the Jama'a al-Islamiya group responsible for the 1997 Luxor massacre, as the governor of Luxor by President Mohamed Morsi. Zazou's resignation sparked widespread protests throughout the country. However, a few days later, the newly appointed governor resigned, but Zazou did not withdraw his resignation, which was not accepted by the Prime Minister.
