Igor de Camargo

Belgian-Brazilian footballer Igor de Camargo began his career in 2000 with Genk Fc. However, despite being one of many young talents in the squad, he struggled to break into the first team.

Loan to Beringen

In the 2003/04 season, Camargo was sent on loan to Beringen, along with ten other players. He made a significant impact, scoring 10 goals in 32 appearances.

Return to Genk and Transfer to Brussels

Despite his successful loan spell, Camargo still struggled to find his place at Genk. He played 15 matches and scored only one goal before the winter break. In January 2005, he was sold by mutual consent to fellow Belgian top-flight side Brussels.

Impressing at Brussels

Camargo's form at Brussels was far more impressive. He scored 5 goals in 13 appearances during the remainder of the 2004/05 season. The following season, he continued to shine, scoring 9 goals in 15 matches before the winter break.

Move to Standard Liege

Camargo's performances caught the attention of Belgian giants Standard Liege, who quickly signed him. He spent four and a half seasons with Standard, making 114 appearances and scoring 32 goals.

Transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach

In April 2010, Borussia Monchengladbach announced that Camargo would join them at the end of the season.

International Career

After obtaining Belgian citizenship in 2009, Camargo was called up to the national team. He made his debut in a friendly match against Slovenia on 11th February.
