Biography of Igor Galakhov
Igor Galakhov was born on October 5, 1958, in the city of Shaulyai, Lithuania. He graduated from the architectural faculty of the Kuibyshev Engineering and Construction Institute in 1980. In 1984, he furthered his education at the Moscow Architectural Institute (MarhI), and in 1999, he pursued advanced training at the University of Los Angeles.
Architectural Career
Galakhov became a member of the Union of Architects of Russia in 1985. From 1980 to 1989, he worked as an architect at the "Gorproekt" Institute. He then served as the head of the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the Architectural and Planning Bureau of the Chief Architect's Office from 1989 to 1990. In the years 1991-1992, Galakhov held the position of the head of the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the Association of Project Management "Old Samara." Since 1992, he has been the director of the architectural and planning workshop "Recon" (GAP).
Projects and Constructions
Throughout his career, Galakhov has been involved in various projects and constructions. He was part of the author team that developed detailed plans for the Samara, Lenin, Oktyabrsky, Krasnoglinsky, and Kirovsky districts. He also contributed to the project of security zones and development regulation zones in the city of Samara in 1991. In 1995, Galakhov participated in the correction of the general development plan for Samara until 2005 and the creation of the legal zoning map of the city.
Some notable constructions attributed to Galakhov include the Stella dedicated to the 400th anniversary of Samara, the "Lad'ya" monument. He also designed residential buildings on Lieutenant Schmidt Street and a residential complex on A. Tolstoy Street. Furthermore, he contributed to the construction of residential buildings at the intersection of Communist Street and Dachnaya Street. Other significant projects include an administrative building with an art gallery at the intersection of Gorky Street and Nekrasovskaya Street, and the office-residential complex "Gostinny Dvor" at the intersection of Villonovskaya Street and Lenin Street. Galakhov also designed low-rise housing settlements on 4th Avenue and 9th Avenue.
