Education and Early Career

Kazuyo Sejima is a contemporary Japanese architect and one of the most renowned architects of our time. She studied architecture at the private women's university Nihon Yoshidaigaku and graduated in 1981. From that year onwards, she worked at the office of architect Toyo Ito.

Establishing Kazuyo Sejima & Partner

In 1987, Kazuyo began her independent career and established the firm Kazuyo Sejima & Partner. Alongside Ryue Nishizawa, who initially worked as one of her employees, Kazuyo has been leading the architectural firm SANAA in Tokyo since 1995.

Teaching and Notable Projects

In the same year, 1995, she also started teaching at Nihon Yoshidaigaku. Kazuyo Sejima's impressive architectural projects combine the most modern stylistic solutions with a sense of open space. Among her notable creations, the building of the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York stands out.
