Early Life and Education
Ikram Adyrbekov was born on June 8, 1950, in the village of Chinaz, Tashkent Region, Uzbek SSR. In 1972, he graduated from the Alma-Ata Zooveterinary Institute as a veterinary zoologist.
Academic and Scientific Research
After graduating, Adyrbekov worked at the Institute of Experimental Biology of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences as an intern, graduate student, and junior researcher. From 1979 onwards, he served as a senior researcher and head of laboratory at the Kazakh Research Institute of Karakul Breeding.
Political Career
In 1983, Adyrbekov became secretary of the Communist Party committee of the Burzhar collective farm. Subsequently, he held various positions in the agricultural sector, including head of department at the Karakalpak National Production Association, deputy chairman of the Kazkarakul Association, and vice president of the Kazakhruknokarakul concern.
Foreign Trade and Diplomacy
In 1992, Adyrbekov was appointed president of the Kazagrovneshtorg foreign trade joint-stock company. He also served as president of the Agronsauda State Foreign Trade Joint-Stock Company from 1993 onwards. In 1996, he was deputy minister of foreign affairs of Kazakhstan, with responsibility for financial and administrative matters.
From 1997 to 2002, Adyrbekov served as ambassador to Lithuania, and concurrently to Estonia and Latvia. He graduated from the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation in 1999.
Ambassadorial Posts
In 2002, Adyrbekov became Kazakhstan's ambassador to Malaysia and, from 2004 onwards, concurrently to the Philippines. In 2007, he was appointed ambassador to China and, concurrently, to Vietnam and North Korea.
Governor of Kyzylorda Region
On April 5, 2004, Adyrbekov was presented by the President of Kazakhstan as the new governor of Kyzylorda Region.
