Saint Hilarion the Wonderworker
Reverand Saint Hilarion is a highly revered figure in the Eastern Orthodox Church, venerated as a monk and a saint.
Early Life and Monasticism
Saint Hilarion became a disciple of the esteemed Saint Euphrosynus of Pskov, the founder of the Holy Trinity St. Eleazar Monastery. Under Saint Euphrosynus's guidance, Hilarion embraced the monastic life and dedicated himself to spiritual growth.
Foundation of the Ozerky Intercession Monastery
Driven by a desire to spread the православная faith, Saint Hilarion established the Ozerky Intercession Monastery on the banks of the Zhelcha River, close to the Estonian border. The monastery, located near the territory of the Livonian Order, became a beacon of Christianity in the region. Hilarion's tireless efforts contributed significantly to the spread of Orthodox Christianity among the Estonian people.
Development of the Monastery
Saint Hilarion devoted his life to the development of the Ozerky Intercession Monastery. His dedication and leadership fostered the monastery's transformation into a thriving religious center. The sprawling complex included multiple churches, hermitages, and other structures, reflecting the monastery's growing importance.
Legacy and Repose
After a lifetime of unwavering service, Saint Hilarion passed away on March 28, 1476. His mortal remains were laid to rest at the northern gates of the iconostasis in the Intercession Church of the monastery he founded. His unwavering faith and ceaseless works continue to inspire countless believers to this day.
