Early Life and Education
Imeda Kakhiani was born in Tbilisi, Georgia. From 1956 to 1959, he studied at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre Institute in Tbilisi.
Film Debut and Notable Roles
Kakhiani made his film debut while still a student in the titular role of Shota Managadze's comedy "The Last of Sabudara" (1958). In 1963, he was cast in the lead role in Eldar Shengelaya and Tamaz Meliava's drama "The White Caravan" (1964), where he starred opposite Ariadna Shengelaya. He also played a police captain in Aloiz Brenc and Rostislav Goryayev's detective film "24-25 Doesn't Return" (1968) and a forensic expert in "Night Visit" (1974), based on the novel by the Vaynner brothers.
Later Career and Acclaim
Kakhiani's filmography includes the television series "The Shores" (1977), based on Chabua Amirejibi's novel "Data Tutashkhia," the tragicomedy "The Stepmother Samanishvili" (1977), the cinematic parable "The Swimmer" (1981), and the drama "The Law of Eternity" (1982), based on Nodar Dumbadze's novel.
Recognition and Legacy
In 1979, Kakhiani was honored with the title of People's Artist of Georgia. He remained active in film until 1995, appearing in a total of 36 films. His contributions to Georgian cinema continue to be celebrated.
