Early Life and CareerIngo Steuer, born in Karl-Marx-Stadt, East Germany, began his skating journey at the young age of six. He joined the Karl-Marx-Stadt SC and trained under the guidance of Monica Scheibe.
Partnership with Manuela Landgraf
Steuer first partnered with Manuela Landgraf in 1984, achieving a silver medal at the East German Championships. This success earned them a place on the national team.
Pairing with Ines Müller
In 1987, Steuer teamed up with Ines Müller. However, their partnership did not produce significant accolades.
Triumphs with Mandy Wötzel
Steuer's true breakthrough came in 1992 when he paired with Mandy Wötzel. In their debut season, they claimed the German Championship and secured second place at both the European and World Championships, showcasing their impressive triple toe loop and double axel jumps.

In the late 1990s, Steuer transitioned to coaching at his former club, SC Chemnitz. He guided several pairs to significant achievements, including Nicole Nönning and Matthias Bayer, Eva-Maria Fitze and Rico Rex, and most notably, Aljona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy.
Coaching Successes
Steuer's coaching methods emphasize technical proficiency and a rigorous approach to the New Judging System. His athletes have dominated the sport in recent years, with Savchenko and Szolkowy securing multiple World and European Championship titles.

In 2005-06, Steuer faced legal challenges when the German Olympic Committee initially denied him permission to coach at the 2006 Olympics. His students stood in solidarity, threatening to boycott the Games if he was barred from attending.
