Georgian Footballer and Defender
Professional CareerArchil Kortava is a Georgian footballer who plays as a defender for the Latvian club Dinaburg. He began his professional career at FC Gagra as a right-back. In 2004, he joined Ukrainian powerhouse Dynamo Kyiv.
Dynamo Kyiv and Loan
Kortava spent time with Dynamo-2 and the reserve team before being loaned to Tavriya Simferopol in the second half of the 2005/06 season. Subsequently, he had unsuccessful trials with Russian club Rostov and Latvian club Riga.
Latvian Clubs
In 2006, Kortava joined Latvian side Dizvanagi, which later became known as Blazma in 2007. In 2009, he moved to Dinaburg in Daugavpils.
Abkhazian Interlude
In 2011, Kortava returned to his homeland and played for FC Dynamo Sukhumi in the Abkhazian championship. He finished 9th-10th in that year's Abkhazian Footballer of the Year poll.
International Appearances
Kortava represented the Georgian U19 youth team and was called up to the U21 youth team in 2005.
