Irena Pavlovic: A Serbian-Born French Tennis Prodigy

Early Life

Irena Pavlovic was born in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) but moved to France at the age of three along with her family. Her parents, Dragan (a former basketball player) and Mirjana, have another son, Filip, who plays basketball like his father while studying at university.

Introduction to Tennis

Pavlovic's father introduced her to tennis when she was five years old. Growing up, she admired the achievements of tennis legend Monica Seles. Her favorite tennis court surface is the hard court.

Professional Career

ITF Titles and Early Success

Pavlovic has won a total of 17 ITF tournaments, including three singles titles. She reached the semi-finals of the Orange Bowl doubles competition in 2004 and the quarter-finals of the junior Wimbledon doubles competition in 2005.
