Irina Viktorovna Efremova is a well-known film actress who has gained fame for her roles in many popular television projects. Irina hopes that the most important role of her life is yet to come.

Irina Efremova

Early Life

Irina Efremova, a native Muscovite, was born on October 25, 1980, into a family that was far removed from creative professions. Her parents, Valentina Ivanovna and Viktor Aleksandrovich Efremov, worked at a factory their whole lives, and they viewed their daughter's desire to become an actress with skepticism. However, even at a young age, Irina appeared as an extra in a children's film, playing a small spectator at a circus. Irina had a great love for history and literature, and she had an excellent memory for poetry, often reciting them on any suitable occasion. Because of this, she decided to study at a humanities lyceum. Although she was an active participant in all school performances, she leaned towards listening to her parents and applying to the Literature Institute. The decisive factor was the influence of Inna Lyutsianovna Vishnevskaya, Irina's literature teacher, who also taught at GITIS. She often spoke about theater institute students and their training, so after receiving her diploma, Irina submitted her documents to the admissions committee of the educational institution she had heard so much about. Like many applicants, her first attempt to enter GITIS was unsuccessful, and Irina became a student of the preschool pedagogy department of a pedagogical college. Alongside her, Anastasia Guseva, the sister of the famous actress Ekaterina Guseva, was also studying to become a kindergarten teacher. Irina did not want to give up her dream of becoming an actress, so while studying at college, she also took private lessons with a tutor to prepare for the next entrance exams. Her second attempt to pass the admission exams was successful, and she was enrolled in Pavel Khomsky's workshop. The course at GITIS is aimed at training theater actors, and Irina Efremova wholeheartedly mastered all the intricacies of the acting profession. To this day, she considers her best stage character to be Grushenka in the graduation performance of "The Brothers Karamazov."

Acting Career

After receiving her diploma in 2003, Irina Efremova joined the Psychological Theater. She played Freckle in the children's play "Bits and Bobs in Corners," Teresa in "Poor Pierrot," and her most successful role was Shakespeare's Mariana in the play "Measure for Measure." However, her main focus in her creative work became her participation in television projects. If we don't count her previous extra roles in children's films, Irina's first role was a small episode in the film "Drongo," where she played a student and didn't even make it into the credits. This was followed by another minor role in the film "Penitent Love" (2003). Soon, the young actress began to receive small roles, such as Margo in the series "Family Pipeline" of the popular TV show "My Fair Nanny," Irina in "Always Speak Always," and Alla in the TV series "The Stag Party, or Sex and the City." Irina's dark eyes and hair, which fit the stereotype of negative heroines, often led her to be cast as "negative" characters - strong and quite unpleasant women who possess inner strength and irresistible magnetism. Among the most memorable characters played by the actress are Vera's coach in the popular series "Voronins" (2009-2013), Ella Vorobieva in "Close People" (2008), and Raechka in "Number Forty-Three" (2009). Despite the recurring character types in her on-screen roles, Irina Efremova puts a lot of effort into each role to make it unique. For example, in order to portray the villainous Larisa Voroshilova in the series "Kiss" (2013), she learned boxing and Argentine tango. Irina's recent works include the roles of Nina in the series "Stantsiya" and Marina in the film "Grandpa 005" (both released in 2013). In the fall of 2014, the premiere of the series "Heart of a Star" took place, where Efremova plays the main character - singer Alexandra Grineva. In 2017, the actress was invited to play the lead role in the melodrama "A Child for Yourself," followed by roles in films such as "How to Get Your Husband Back in 30 Days" and "Two Comrades Served." Irina Efremova currently appears on the theater stage very rarely, occasionally participating in the improvisational play "I Came to Give You Freedom," in which she plays the role of Alena. The intensive shooting schedule not only contributes to her creative expression but also allows her to fulfill her long-standing dream of owning her own home. In the little free time she has left from filming and preparing for roles, Irina dedicates herself to fitness and dreams of regularly visiting the pool and studying English.
