Biography of Irina Zaytseva
Irina Zaytseva is a Soviet and Russian television journalist and presenter, best known as the author and host of the program "Bez Galstuka" ("Without a Tie"), which aired on several Russian television channels from the mid-1990s to the early 2010s.
Early Life and Education
Irina Zaytseva was born in 1958. She graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University in 1988.
Career
In 1987, Zaytseva began her career as an intern and correspondent for the program "Vremya" on the Central Television of Gosteleradio USSR. She later worked as a correspondent for the programs "Utro" ("Morning") and "Do i Posle Polunochi" ("Before and After Midnight").
In 1991, Zaytseva joined the television and radio company "Ostankino," and in October 1993, she moved to the newly created television company NTV. There, she worked as a correspondent for the Information Service and appeared on programs such as "Segodnya" ("Today") and "Itogi s Yevgeniyem Kiselevym" ("Results with Yevgeny Kiselev").
From January 1997 to April 2001, Zaytseva was the main host of the television program "Geroy Dnya Bez Galstuka" ("Hero of the Day Without a Tie") on NTV. During this time, she conducted interviews with prominent Russian politicians, as well as figures from the world of culture and sports.
In April 2001, following a change of ownership and management at NTV, Zaytseva initially remained with the company. However, in June of the same year, she joined TV-6, along with many former NTV journalists and staff, including Yevgeny Kiselev. From September 2001 to April 2003, she hosted the program "Bez Galstuka" on TV-6, and from June 2002 on TVS, a television channel created by the former team of late TV-6.
After the closure of TVS in June 2003, Zaytseva joined the state holding company VGTRK. From October 2003 to July 2004, she hosted the program "Bez Galstuka" on the channel "Rossiya." From July 2006 to June 2013, she hosted the program on the information channel "Vesti-24" (later renamed "Rossiya-24").
In April 2005, Zaytseva's documentary film "Process Poshol!" ("The Process Has Begun!") about the perestroika period was shown on the "Rossiya" channel. Since 2013, she has stopped working regularly on television and currently occasionally participates in television nostalgia talk shows.
Family
Irina Zaytseva has a son, Andrey Zaytsev, who is a director of documentary and feature films.
