Early Life

Irrfan Khan was born in Jaipur, India to a Muslim family. His mother, Saida Begum, hailed from the Tonk Hakim family, while his father, Jagirdar, was from the Khajuria village in Tonk district and ran a tire business.

Education and Acting Career in India

Irrfan pursued a Master's degree in Arts before receiving a scholarship to attend the National School of Drama in New Delhi in 1984. He began his acting career by appearing in several Indian television serials. One notable role included playing a leading negative character, a psychopathic serial killer, in the series "Darr." His first feature film was Mira Nair's "Salaam Bombay!" (1988), where he was initially cast as a child but later played the role of a street scribe. Throughout the 1990s, he starred in critically acclaimed films such as "The Death of a Doctor" (1990) and "Such a Long Journey" (1998), which received less commercial success.

International Breakthrough and Hollywood Success

Irrfan's breakthrough role came in the 2001 British film "The Warrior" directed by Asif Kapadia. He gained further recognition for his performances in "Slumdog Millionaire" (2008), "Life of Pi" (2012), "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012), and "Inferno" (2016).

Personal Life and Health Struggles

In 2018, Irrfan announced that he had been diagnosed with a rare disease and would be stepping back from filming to focus on his health.
