Biography of Isa Shukurov
Early Life and EducationIsa Heydar oglu Shukurov, an Azerbaijani journalist, was born on August 31, 1985, in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. His father, Heydar Shukurov, was a trader, while his mother, Gulnar Isa qizi Shukurova, was a teacher for 35 years. Gulknar sadly passed away from cancer in 2017.
In 2003, Shukurov excelled academically and graduated from Baku Secondary School No. 157. He then pursued higher education at Baku State University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Publishing and Editing in 2007. He continued his studies in the same field and completed his Master's degree with honors in 2010.
Career at ANS TV
Shukurov embarked on his journalism journey in 2011 as a host on ANS TV. His early work included leading the morning program "Salam Azerbaijan" and later managing the three-hour morning show project. From 2013 to 2017, he served as the press secretary for Azerbaijani folk singer Aygun Kazimova.
During his tenure at ANS TV, Shukurov played a significant role as a proponent of tolerance. He gained recognition for his on-air appearances as a blackface character, highlighting the importance of social harmony.
Work Beyond ANS TV
After parting ways with Aygun Kazimova, Shukurov declined further offers to act as a press secretary for other artists. He expanded his scope by working as an editor for the shows "İş Dünyası" and "Şou Zamanı" on ANS TV. Concurrently, he led the project and hosted the program "İstifadə Tərzi+."
In 2014, Shukurov left ANS TV and joined Publika.az as a show news writer. The following year, he became the editor of the project "Bakı Vaxtıyla" on ATV. Later that year, he returned to ANS TV.
Following the closure of ANS TV in 2017, Shukurov joined ARB TV. A year later, he became the host of the five-day show "Show News." Currently, he continues to manage and host this program.
ShowNews.az
Shukurov established the website ShowNews.az on March 3, 2018. The corresponding Instagram page, which he manages, has become one of the most popular in Azerbaijan.
Lawsuit
In 2018, a lawsuit was filed against Shukurov and Nazili Safarli by Khöshgədem Hidayatgizi, who alleged defamation in an article published on the "Show News" page. The Nizami District Court ruled in favor of Hidayatgizi and ordered Shukurov to pay a fine of AZN 1000.
Personal Life
Isa Shukurov is close friends with the well-known Azerbaijani producer and TV host Tarikh Aliyev.
