Early Life and Education

Isabel García Tejerinawas born in Valladolid, Spain. She pursued an Engineering degree in Agricultural Economics from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, followed by a Law degree from the University of Valladolid.

Political Career

Rise in the Ministry of Agriculture

García Tejerina embarked on her political journey within the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture. She served as an advisor to various ministers, including Loyola de Palacio, Jesús Posada, and Miguel Arias Cañete.

General Secretary and Strategic Planning

García Tejerina was appointed as General Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food twice, from 2000-2004 and 2012-2014. During her tenure, she headed the strategic planning department at Fertiberia and consulted for the Algerian fertilizer company Fertial S.P.A.

Ministerial Appointment

Minister of Agriculture, Food, and the Environment

On April 28, 2014, García Tejerina was sworn in as the Minister of Agriculture, Food, and the Environment in the government of Mariano Rajoy. She replaced Miguel Arias Cañete in the position.
