Isabelle Delobel
Early Life and CareerIsabelle Delobel began skating at the age of six. In 1994, she began her partnership with Olivier Schoenfelder. Together, they became six-time French champions and won the silver medal at the 1996 World Junior Championships.
International Success
Delobel and Schoenfelder's first major international success came in 2005, when they won a bronze medal at the European Championships. They went on to compete in three Olympic Games, placing fourth in Turin (2006) and sixth in Vancouver (2010).
European Championship Title
In 2007, Delobel and Schoenfelder achieved the pinnacle of their competitive career by winning the European Championship. They followed this up with their first World Championship medal, a gold, in 2008.
Grand Prix and Injury
In the 2008-2009 season, Delobel and Schoenfelder won the Grand Prix Final. However, Delobel suffered a back injury during an exhibition in Korea, which forced them to withdraw from the French Championships and the European Championships. They also missed the World Championships due to complications from the surgery to correct the injury.
Return and Retirement
Delobel and Schoenfelder announced in April 2009 that they were expecting a child. Despite this, they planned to continue their skating careers and compete at the 2010 Olympics. They finished sixth at the Olympics with a poignant free program dedicated to their career. After Vancouver, they retired from competitive skating.
Personal Life
Isabelle Delobel has a twin sister, Véronique Delobel, who also competed in ice dancing. In July 2009, she married Ludovic Roux, a bronze medalist in Nordic combined at the 1998 Olympics. They have one son, born in October 2009.
