Biography of Ismael Bangura
Ismael Bangura is a Guinean footballer who currently plays as a forward for the French club Rennes and the Guinean national team. He was born into a football family, with his uncle being a former footballer and later a coach for the national team.
Early Career
At the age of 18, Bangura moved to France to pursue his football career. He started playing for the Corsican club Gazélec Ajaccio, which at the time was competing in the third division of the French league. Showing great skill and a knack for scoring goals, Bangura caught the attention of scouts from Le Mans.
Rise to Prominence
In his first season in the top division, Bangura played 23 matches and scored 6 goals. However, it was the following season when he truly made his mark, becoming the third top scorer in the French league with 12 goals in 33 games. His impressive performances earned him a move to Dynamo Kyiv in the summer of 2007, for a transfer fee of 6.5 million euros. He was given the iconic number 10 shirt.
Dynamo Kyiv and International Success
Bangura announced his ambition to score 20 goals in his first season with Dynamo Kyiv, and he made an immediate impact by scoring a hat-trick in his first match as a starter. Throughout the season, he scored a total of 21 goals in all competitions, becoming the team's top scorer.
In July 2009, Bangura transferred to the French club Rennes for a fee of 11 million euros. He made his debut for the club on August 8, 2009, in a match against Boulogne. He scored his first goal for Rennes in the 7th minute, which also happened to be the team's first goal of the season.
Bangura is also regarded as a leader in the Guinean national team. He has represented his country in the African Cup of Nations in 2006 and 2008. In addition to his club success, he has won the Ukrainian Championship in the 2008-2009 season and the Ukrainian Super Cup in 2007.
