Early Career

At the tender age of 17, Croatian footballer Ivan Perišić began to make waves in the football world. Scouts from renowned clubs such as Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven, Ajax, Hertha Berlin, and Hamburg SV took notice of his exceptional skills during his performances for Croatia's youth national team. Ultimately, Perišić opted to join French club Sochaux.

Sochaux and Loan to Roeselare

Perišić spent a considerable amount of time at Sochaux but remained in the club's youth setup, never making an appearance for the first team. In January 2009, he was sent on loan to Belgian club Roeselare to gain much-needed playing time. It was during his loan spell that Perišić made his mark. On January 11, 2009, he made his debut for his new club in the Belgian Cup, starting in the match and scoring the only goal against his future team Brugge. Six days later, he made his league debut in a 2-1 away defeat to Kortrijk.

Transfer to Brugge

After the conclusion of the season, Perišić returned to Sochaux, who sold him to Brugge for a fee of €250,000 on August 26. On September 13, 2009, he made his debut for the Belgian side in a home match against Genk, scoring his signature debut goal in a 1-1 draw. Brugge finished the season in third place, with Perišić making 33 appearances and contributing 9 goals.

Rise to Stardom in Brugge

The 2010/11 season proved to be even more successful for Brugge, as they finished in fourth place. However, Perišić's personal achievements were remarkable. He became the league's top goalscorer, netting 22 goals in 37 matches. His impressive performances attracted the attention of major European clubs, with Borussia Dortmund emerging as the most interested suitor.

Borussia Dortmund

On May 23, 2011, Dortmund acquired Perišić from Brugge for €5 million and signed him to a five-year contract. His time at Dortmund brought him significant success. He played a key role in the club's Bundesliga title triumph in 2011/12 and also lifted the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) that same season.

International Career

Perišić was a regular feature in Croatia's youth national teams. In 2011, he was called up to the senior team for the first time. He made his international debut on March 26, 2011, in a UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying match against Georgia, which Croatia lost 1-0.
