Youth and Education

Ivan Vabishchevich was born in Belarus to parents who had recently relocated from Tbilisi, Georgia. After completing high school, he enrolled in the National Technical University, where he majored in water supply and sewage systems. He went on to pursue a graduate degree, qualifying him to teach at his alma mater.

Early Career in KVN

Vabishchevich's comedic career began with his involvement in the KVN team "ChP." The team's performances gained popularity, leading to invitations for appearances throughout Belarus and Ukraine. In Ukraine, the team hosted a radio program on "Russian Radio" called "Good Hour with ChP."

"Orange Mood" and Comedy Club

In 2007, Vabishchevich performed with ChP in Minsk's "Orange Mood" program, a celebration of the team's tenth anniversary. He subsequently became a resident of the "Comedy Club" in Minsk, juggling his teaching responsibilities with a part-time role as a DJ on "Yunistar" radio.

"New Wave" and Uncle Vanya

Summer 2008 marked Vabishchevich's participation in the "New Wave" music festival. Though he downplayed his chances of winning, he made it to the finals among 17 other contestants. His two weeks at the festival had a profound impact on his perspective towards show business. Director Alexander Revzin encouraged Vabishchevich to create the provocative stage character of Uncle Vanya, a beloved figure who masters multiple instruments, defies stylistic constraints, and performs everything from chanson to heavy rock.

Collaboration and Awards

Inspired by "New Wave," Vabishchevich teamed up with the music group "Van Helsing," becoming their lead singer. At the end of the festival, he received a special prize from legendary Russian singer Alla Pugacheva, who praised his authenticity and unique stage presence.

Vabishchevich was cast in the musical "Biker," a role that resonated deeply with him. He also released his debut album, "The BEST No. 1" in 2009 and began working on a second album, released in 2011.

"The Voice" and Solo Success

2013 saw Vabishchevich's participation in the second season of the "The Voice" TV show. Despite being the last to turn her chair during his audition, Pelageya was impressed by his raw talent and potential. However, Vabishchevich's journey ended in the following round.
