Biography of Viktor Zviagintsev
Early Life and CareerViktor Zviagintsev was born in the village of Mirolyubovka, near Ternopil, Ukraine, on May 11, 1957. After completing school, he worked as a tiler. While serving in the army, he played for his construction battalion's team.
Return to Football and Rise
Upon returning from military service, Zviagintsev played for the amateur team of the Ternopil "Kvadra" plant. His performances caught the attention of coaches from Vinnitsa "Lokomotiv", then playing in the second Soviet league.
Joining Moscow Spartak and Beyond
In 1982, Zviagintsev made the move to Moscow Spartak. However, an early injury forced him to return to Vinnitsa. In 1984, he joined Dnipropetrovsk "Dnipr", with whom he won the USSR championship in 1988.
International Recognition and Turkish Experience
Zviagintsev earned a place in the USSR national team, helping them win the silver medal at the 1988 European Championship. From 1989 to 1992, he played for Fenerbahce and Sarıyer in Turkey, retiring due to injuries.
Coaching and Tragic Demise
After returning to Ukraine, Zviagintsev worked as assistant coach for Vinnitsa "Niva" and Dnipropetrovsk "Dnipr". On May 11, 1996, he passed away at the age of 39 due to a melanoma that had developed in 1988.
