Profile of Ivica Bocevski

Early Life and Education

Ivica Bocevski is a Macedonian politician who served as the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia. He was born in Skopje and graduated from the University of Skopje with a degree in law in 1999. Bocevski later pursued further education at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania as part of the U.S. State Department's Young Professional Fellows Program from 2002 to 2004. He is proficient in both English and German and has authored articles in local and international academic journals.

Political Career

Bocevski's political career began when he was appointed press secretary to Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski in March 2007. In July 2008, he was promoted to Deputy Prime Minister responsible for European integration. He is also the co-founder and first executive director of the Institute of Democracy in Skopje.

Resignation and Return

Bocevski's resignation from the government on June 30, 2009, came as a surprise. The parliament approved the appointment of Vasko Naumovski as his successor on July 10th. However, Bocevski returned to government in 2020 when he was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance and Secretary-General of the Government.

Bocevski is married and has a daughter named Jovanka. He is known for his strong commitment to European integration and his efforts to promote democracy and good governance in Macedonia.
