Bundesliga and La Liga Experience
In 1995, Mornar moved to the Bundesliga, joining Eintracht Frankfurt. However, the club suffered relegation that season, finishing 17th. The following season, he played for Sevilla in the Spanish La Liga, but the team also faced relegation.
Success in Belgium
In 1997, Mornar joined Segunda Division club Orense, where he scored 8 goals in 28 matches. A year later, he moved to Standard Liège in the Belgian league, where he spent three seasons. He scored 23 goals in 68 appearances and helped the club finish third in the 2000-01 season.
Dominance with Anderlecht
After his time at Standard Liège, Mornar moved to Anderlecht, one of the top clubs in Belgium. In his first two seasons, he scored 14 goals, with the club finishing third and second respectively. In the 2003-04 season, Mornar contributed significantly to Anderlecht's championship victory by scoring 10 goals in the first half of the season.
Premier League and Later Career
In January 2004, Mornar joined Portsmouth in the Premier League, rejecting a new two-year contract offer from Anderlecht. He made his debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers and scored his only goal for the club against Tottenham Hotspur. Soon after, he was loaned to Rennes, appearing in 15 matches. Returning to Portsmouth in 2005, Mornar suffered a severe injury and made only two appearances. In September 2006, his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
International Career
Mornar made his debut for the Croatian national team in 1994. Despite disagreements with coach Miroslav Blazevic, he did not participate in the Euro 1996 or the 1998 World Cup. His sole major international tournament was Euro 2004, where he played in all three matches. In total, Mornar played 22 matches for Croatia, scoring one goal in a friendly against England in 2003.
