Johannes Müller
Early CareerJohannes Müller was a prominent Estonian and Soviet military figure. From 1923 to 1934, he commanded the Estonian Army's 7th Regiment. His distinguished leadership earned him a promotion to commander of the 1st Division from 1934 to 1936.
Rise in the Ranks
In 1936, Müller assumed command of the 2nd Division, a position he held until the annexation of Estonia by the Soviet Union in 1940. After the incorporation of the Estonian Army into the Red Army as the 22nd Estonian Territorial Corps, he was appointed commander of the 182nd Rifle Division within the corps.
Arrest and Execution
In July 1941, Müller and several former Estonian army officers were arrested on fabricated charges. On May 15, 1942, he was executed in Moscow. The charges against him were later found to be baseless.
Posthumous Rehabilitation
Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, Müller's reputation was posthumously restored. He was fully rehabilitated, and his honor was vindicated.
