Early Life and Military Career

Charles Joseph Frédéric Duvernoy was a French clarinetist and composer born in 1765. His elder brother, Frédéric Duvernoy, was a renowned horn player and composer. Charles studied music with a regimental musician in the Strasbourg garrison and subsequently joined the military band.

Compositions

Duvernoy composed numerous works for clarinet, including concertos and sonatas. He also wrote various arias. François Devienne dedicated a sonata for clarinet and piano to Duvernoy.
