Biography of Marco Ambrosini
Marco Ambrosini, the Italian musician and composer, currently resides in Germany. He was born in 1964 in Forli, Italy. Ambrosini studied music at the G.B. Pergolesi Institute of Music in Ancona, under the guidance of Mario Perrucci. He also attended the G. Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro. As a professional musician, Ambrosini has played with various ensembles specializing in early and contemporary music, baroque music, chamber orchestras, and philharmonic orchestras.
Establishment of 'Oni Wytars'
In the early 1980s, Ambrosini founded the internationally acclaimed ensemble 'Oni Wytars' in Germany. He continues to perform with this group to this day.
Collaborations and Solo Career
In 1990, Marco Ambrosini began performing as a soloist with the renowned 'Clemencic Consort' in Vienna. As part of this ensemble, he performed at the famous La Scala theater in Milan in 1993. Ambrosini also became the composer for the 'New Jazz Meeting' on the German radio station SWR in 1993.
Additionally, since 1991, Ambrosini has worked as the artistic director at the recording studio 'Katharco,' alongside Katharina Dustmann. Together, they have composed music for numerous theatrical performances, films, and events such as 'Alte Oper – Frankfurt,' 'The Return of the Marco Polo,' and 'Between Skies and Hell.'
Authorship and Discography
Marco Ambrosini authored the textbook 'Einführung in die mittelalterliche Musik' (Introduction to Medieval Music) in 1992. He has also performed with the 'LAD' ensemble in various baroque programs, showcasing his skills as a soloist on the nyckelharpa, a traditional Swedish string instrument.
Ambrosini's discography consists of over 100 CDs, and he is known for his extensive concert activities. Throughout his career, he has been a member of various musical collectives, including 'Oni Wytars,' 'Clemencic Consort,' 'Katharco Early Music Consort,' 'Els Trobadors,' 'Unicorn,' 'Accentus,' 'Armonico Tributo,' and 'Ensemble Kapsberger.'
Today, Marco Ambrosini resides in Germany and is recognized worldwide as an active promoter of early music. He has initiated and organized numerous festivals dedicated to baroque music and nyckelharpa playing.
