Jamie Cope is an English snooker player known for his attacking style and impressive record at youth and amateur levels.
Early Career and Breakthrough
Cope joined the professional circuit in 2001 but initially struggled to establish himself in the main tour. After dropping down to the Challenge Tour, he had a stellar season, finishing first and earning a return to the elite.
Main Tour Success and Major Finals
Cope's third year in the main tour was exceptional as he qualified for most tournaments and reached a career-high ranking of 48th. In 2006, he made a breakthrough by reaching the final of the Grand Prix, where he recorded his highest break of 147. He went on to reach the final of the China Open the following year, where he narrowly lost to defending world champion Graeme Dott.
International Recognition and Maximum Break
Cope's performances earned him recognition as one of the most promising young players in snooker. In 2008, he became only the eighth player in history to make a maximum break (147) during the Shanghai Masters.
Record-Breaking Amateur Achievements
Prior to his professional career, Cope was a highly successful junior and amateur player. He won an astonishing 50 titles, including an incredible 155-break in an exhibition match in 2005—a record at the time.
