Kaviedes' career took a remarkable turn in 1998 when he scored an impressive 43 goals for Emelec in the Ecuadorian Serie A. This extraordinary feat earned him the title of the world's top scorer that year. His performances caught the attention of Italian club Perugia, who signed him in 2000.

Kaviedes had a short-lived stint in Italy before embarking on a journey across Europe, Mexico, and South America.
