Banking Career
After graduating from Harvard, James Paul Warburg embarked on a successful banking career. He initially worked at the First National Bank of Boston from 1919 to 1921. Subsequently, he became Vice President of the International Acceptance Bank from 1921 to 1929, where he rose to the position of President in 1931.
In 1932, Warburg assumed the role of Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Bank of Manhattan, which later became part of JPMorgan Chase. His tenure at the bank spanned until 1935, during which he played a pivotal role in guiding the institution through the challenges of the Great Depression.
Personal Life
In 1918, James Paul Warburg married composer Kay Swift. During their marriage, Warburg, under the pseudonym "James Paul," wrote lyrics for Swift's songs and musicals. However, their marriage ended in 1934 when Swift left him for the renowned composer George Gershwin.
