Early Life and Education

Oleg Gorokhovsky was born on September 19, 1974, in Dnipro, Ukraine. He excelled academically, graduating with honors from School No. 96. Gorokhovsky then pursued higher education at the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine, where he earned a degree in Economics of Enterprise.

Career at PrivatBank

During his final year of university, Gorokhovsky began his banking career as a trainee currency management curator at PrivatBank. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Head of Business for Servicing Individual VIP Clients at the age of 28. By 37, he had been appointed First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the bank. During his 21-year tenure at PrivatBank, it became the largest financial institution in Ukraine, with 25 million customers.

Fintech Band and Monobank

Following the nationalization of PrivatBank in December 2016, Gorokhovsky founded the IT company Fintech Band in 2017, specializing in online banking, processing, CRM systems, and credit cards. He chose online banking as the focus for the company's new business product. Gorokhovsky's stake in Fintech Band amounted to 17.18% prior to the company's capitalization increase to 1 billion hryvnia.

In the same year, Fintech Band announced a partnership with Universal Bank. In May 2017, the company launched its flagship project, the mobile bank Monobank, which emerged from beta in November 2017. By the end of 2021, Monobank had amassed over 5 million customers.

Expansion and International Growth

In early 2020, Monobank expanded to the United Kingdom under the name Koto. The project secured investment even before obtaining a license, with MasterCard becoming its first investor. Within months, it received additional funding totaling $3.5 million. Gorokhovsky also served as a consultant to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine in the development of the "Diia" mobile application.

Personal Life and Honors

Gorokhovsky is married and has three children. He is an avid sports enthusiast, particularly enjoying table tennis, blogging, and traveling. He holds the 38th position on Focus magazine's "100 Richest People of Ukraine" list, with an estimated net worth of $300 million. In 2020, he was recognized as the "Banker of the Year" by FinAwards.
