After graduating high school in 1997, Ransone moved to New York City and enrolled in the School of Visual Arts. However, he dropped out a year later and pursued photography, commercial modeling, and playing bass guitar in the metal band Early Man. Ultimately, his passion for acting prevailed.
Film and Television Breakthrough
Ransone's film debut came in 2001, followed by his breakout role in the controversial teen drama "Ken Park" (2002) as Tate, a troubled sadist. In 2003, he joined the second season of the critically acclaimed crime series "The Wire" as Ziggy Sobotka, a volatile drug dealer. His nuanced performance brought him recognition and established his Baltimore roots.
Rise to Prominence
Determined to advance his career, Ransone auditioned for countless roles and took on any job he could get.
