Jamie Dimon is an American financier and the current chairman, president, and CEO of JP Morgan Chase, one of the largest American banks. He was born in New York and comes from a Greek immigrant family with a background in banking.

Education and Early Career

Dimon received his education at Tufts University, specializing in psychology and economics. After graduating, he worked in consulting services before attending Harvard Business School. In 1982, he completed his MBA and turned down offers from Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Lehman Brothers to join American Express. Dimon was recruited by Sandy Weill, who later became his boss.

Commercial Credit and Citigroup

Weill and Dimon left American Express in 1985 and took control of Commercial Credit. Through a series of mergers and acquisitions, they created Citigroup, one of the world's largest financial conglomerates. Dimon held the position of CFO in this company. However, he left Citigroup in November 1998, reportedly due to disagreements with Weill.

Journey to JP Morgan Chase

In March 2000, Dimon became the CEO of Bank One, the fifth-largest bank in the United States. In July 2004, Bank One was acquired by JP Morgan Chase, and Dimon became the president and COO of the merged company. By the end of 2005, he became the CEO of JP Morgan Chase, and in 2006, he became the chairman of the board.

Under Dimon's leadership, JP Morgan Chase became the largest bank in the country in terms of assets under management, investment attractiveness, and stock price. Personal Life

In 1983, Dimon married Judith Kent, whom he met at Harvard. They have three daughters together. In 2014, Dimon was diagnosed with throat cancer, but he successfully underwent treatment for it.
