Jan Kubiš
Jan Kubiš is a Slovak politician and diplomat who served as the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) from 1999 to 2005 and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia from 2006 to 2009.
Early Life and Education
Kubiš graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1976 and embarked on a diplomatic career.
Diplomatic Career
Early Diplomatic Posts:- 1980-1985: Embassy of Czechoslovakia in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
- 1985-1988: Head of the Department for Security and Arms Control at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- 1989-1991: Embassy of Czechoslovakia in Moscow
Post-Czechoslovakia:- 1991-1992: Director General of the Euro-Atlantic Section at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czechoslovakia
- January 1993-June 1994: Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the United Nations Office at Geneva, GATT, and other international organizations
