Jarkko Ahola: A Finnish Rock Musician
Early Life and InfluencesJarkko Ahola was born in Finland and initially showed no interest in music. However, at the age of 13, he became intrigued by drums and began learning to play. He later shifted his focus to singing after joining a band in need of a vocalist.
Early Bands
Ahola's first band was named JVS, later renamed Tribunes. After releasing a demo tape, the band disbanded, leading Ahola to join High Voltage, a group influenced by AC/DC's hard rock sound. High Voltage released several demos but gradually faded out due to members' other commitments.
Bulldozer and Helmisetti
Ahola's next significant band was Bulldozer, where he contributed his songwriting skills. The band also featured bassist Ville Lehtinen and guitarist/vocalist Kim Högborg. Ahola and two former High Voltage members, Antti Mäckelä and Krysse Leppänen, later formed Helmisetti, a cover band that included Ahola on drums.
Two and Critical Mess
After meeting sound engineer Jami Katajisto, Ahola formed the acoustic duo Two. He also joined the cover band Critical Mess before deciding to create a new group.
X-tasy and Ahola
Together with bassist Pate Laitinen, Ahola formed X-tasy, a hard rock cover band that recorded several high-quality renditions of classic songs. In 2011, Ahola established the band Ahola, where he serves as both vocalist and guitarist.
Other Projects
In addition to his work with Ahola, Ahola has released a Christmas album titled "Ave Maria - Joulun klassikot" (2012) and participated in the "Forces United" project in 2013. He has also performed as a guest vocalist for various other bands and projects.
