American Track and Field Star
Early Life and EducationAniyah Moore, an American track and field athlete, hails from Grand Prairie, Texas. She chose to attend the University of Georgia to train under coach Petros Kyprianou, inspired by the success of fellow jumper Keturah Orji. Moore was named the 2019 Gatorade Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
Collegiate Success
At the University of Georgia, Moore exceled in both the long jump and triple jump. She won the triple jump at the 2021 SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a personal-best, wind-aided mark of 14.39 meters (47 feet 3 inches), securing the Olympic standard for the postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympics and ranking among the top 10 in the world for the year. She also placed third in the long jump with a distance of 6.64 meters (21 feet 9 inches).
At the 2021 NCAA Championships, Moore earned a bronze medal in the long jump with a jump of 6.65 meters (21 feet 10 inches). She added a silver medal in the triple jump with a mark of 14.13 meters (46 feet 4 inches).
Olympic Debut
Moore's long jump personal best of 6.83 meters (22 feet 5 inches), set on April 9, 2021, met the Olympic qualifying standard and ranked sixth in the world for the year, as well as among the top 10 collegiate marks of all time. At the U.S. Olympic Trials, she finished third in the triple jump, earning her first Olympic berth for the 2020 Summer Games.
Professional Career
In 2023, Moore was named the Honda Sports Award winner for Track and Field after claiming her seventh career NCAA individual title, setting an NCAA record in the triple jump with a leap of 48 feet 6 inches. On July 3, 2023, she announced her decision to forgo her remaining collegiate eligibility and signed with Puma.
Moore was selected for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, where she finished 10th overall in the triple jump. She competed at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, placing fifth with a mark of 14.15 meters.
Olympic History-Making
In June 2024, Moore won the triple jump at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon. She followed that up with a second-place finish in the long jump with a jump of 6.98 meters. This marked her as the first American woman to qualify for both events at the Olympics.
