Early Life and High School Career

High School Star

Shaheed Holloway Hawkins was born on March 21, 1994, in Mount Clemens, Michigan. As a high school basketball player, he was a four-star prospect and the 89th-ranked player in the class of 2012. During his junior year at Powers Catholic High School in Michigan, he earned First Team All-State honors. He spent his senior and junior years at Huntington Prep in Huntington, West Virginia, where he averaged 17.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. ESPN ranked him 16th, while CBS Sports Network ranked him 96th in their classes.

College Career

Freshman and Sophomore Years

As a freshman at the University of South Florida in the 2012-13 season, Hawkins averaged 4.5 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. He struggled in his sophomore season and transferred to Eastern Kentucky the following year.

Breakthrough at Eastern Kentucky

Hawkins sat out the 2014-15 season due to NCAA transfer rules. In his junior campaign, he averaged 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and nearly 3 assists, earning him Second Team All-OVC honors.

Senior Season at Fordham

In his final collegiate season, Hawkins played for Fordham, leading the team in scoring with 14.0 points per game while also ranking second in rebounding with 4.9 rebounds per game. He scored his 1,000th career college point in a double overtime victory over VCU.

Professional Career

Europe and Germany

After going undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft, Hawkins joined the Vilpas Vikings of the Finnish Korisliiga. With Vilpas, he averaged 14.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. In 2018, he moved to Greece and joined Holargos of the Greek Basket League. In 2019, Hawkins signed with the Crailsheim Merlins of the German Basketball Bundesliga, where he averaged 15.9 points per game and shot 53% from the field.

ACL Injury and Return

Hawkins signed with Riesen Ludwigsburg in 2020, but tore his ACL during the preseason, ending his season prematurely. On December 16, 2021, he signed with Telekom Baskets Bonn.

Recent Moves

In 2022, Hawkins joined Limoges CSP of the French LNB Pro A. On February 1, 2023, he returned to Telekom Baskets Bonn of the German Basketball Bundesliga and Basketball Champions League.
