Over the next eight weeks, he will undergo hormonal treatment, and then Jay plans to remove his breasts and have a phallus constructed to replace his female reproductive organs. The surgery to transform from a woman to a man carries risks, so Jay is still uncertain about whether he will go through with it and if having a phallus will make him feel even more like a man than he does now.

Today, Jay's children no longer call him "mom," but rather by his name – Jay. Their teachers have also been very understanding. While not everyone has reacted positively, Jay continues on his journey towards authenticity, embracing his true identity as a man.
