Jayati Ghosh is an esteemed Indian economist. She currently holds the position of Professor of Economics and Chairperson of the Centre for Economic Studies and Planning, School of Social Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India.

Ghosh received her higher education from Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and the University of Cambridge. Her doctoral thesis focused on non-capitalist land rents in theory and practice in North India. She has held academic posts at Cambridge and Tufts University, and has been a visiting lecturer at various institutions in India.
