Early Career

Jean-Sébastien Jaurès, a French defender, was born in 1977 and grew up as a product of AJ Auxerre's youth system. At the tender age of 15, he joined the club, progressing through the ranks of their youth, reserve, and eventually first team. In 1996, Jaurès signed his first professional contract with Auxerre.

Professional Debut with Auxerre

Jaurès made his professional debut on February 22, 1997, in a Ligue 1 match against Montpellier. Though Auxerre lost the game 2-0, Jaurès played 66 minutes as a substitute for Joseph-Désiré Job. Gradually, he established himself as a regular starter, making over 20 appearances per season starting from 2000/01.

Transfer to Borussia Mönchengladbach

After his contract with Auxerre expired, Jaurès became a free agent and signed a three-year contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach on June 3, 2008. He made his Bundesliga debut on August 17, 2008, against Stuttgart in the opening match of the season. Despite starting the game, Gladbach lost 3-1.

Injury-Plagued Stay in Germany

Jaurès's time in Germany was marred by injuries, particularly a serious knee injury. In his first season, he only managed four appearances. The following season, he made 16 appearances before leaving the club at the end of the 2010/11 season, having played a total of just 20 matches for Gladbach.
