Villeneuve-Esclapon frequently visited the renowned Parisian chess hub, Cafe de la Regence. He quickly developed into a skilled practical player and immersed himself in the world of chess.
Etude Composition and Editorial Role:
Alongside his practical pursuits, Villeneuve-Esclapon became passionate about composing chess studies. He played a pivotal role in establishing the "Friendly Union of Amateurs of the Regence." From 1906 to 1909, he edited their publication "French Chess" ("L'Echiquier français").
French Chess Federation and Tournament Organization:
During the 1920s, Villeneuve-Esclapon actively participated in organizing committees for various French championships. He was a founding member of the French Chess Federation (FFE).
