Jeb Hensarling: A Political Journey
Early Life and EducationJeb Hensarling was born on May 29, 1957, in Stephenville, Texas. Raised on a family farm, he graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in economics in 1979. In 1982, he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Political Career
Prior to entering Congress, Hensarling served as Texas State Director for Senator Phil Gramm from 1985 to 1989. He subsequently held executive roles in the Republican Senatorial Committee and Green Mountain Energy, before becoming the owner of San Jacinto Ventures in 1996.

Elected to Congress in 2002, Hensarling quickly rose through the Republican ranks. In 2005, the National Review dubbed him the "Budget Guru," recognizing his efforts to reform the congressional budgetary process.
House Republican Conference Chairman
Following the 2006 midterm elections, Hensarling became Chairman of the House Republican Conference, a position he held for two terms.
House Financial Services Committee Chairman
After the 2012 elections, Hensarling was elected Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. In this role, he has been instrumental in shaping policies related to banking, housing, and the financial markets.
Personal Life
Jeb Hensarling resides in Dallas, Texas, with his wife, Melissa, and their two children. He and his wife are members of the Episcopal Church.
