Biography of Jeff Pilson

Jeffrey Steven Pilson, known as Jeff Pilson, was born in 1959 in Lake Forest, Illinois. From a young age, he was inspired by bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Eagles, and decided to pursue a career as a rock musician. He began playing the bass guitar and joined various garage bands, as many aspiring rockers did at the time.

Pilson gained recognition when he became a member of the highly popular heavy metal band Dokken. During his time with Dokken, he contributed to the recording of albums such as "Tooth and Nail" (1984), "Under Lock and Key" (1985), "Back for the Attack" (1987), and "Beast From The East" (1988). However, he left the band in the late 1980s to form his own band called Flesh & Blood, where he took on lead vocals and rhythm guitar duties. After renaming the band to War & Peace, Pilson and his bandmates released four official albums: "Time Capsule" (1993), "The Flesh and Blood Sessions" (1999), "Light At The End Of The Tunnel" (2001), and "The Walls Have Eyes" (2004). Although the band had a limited fan base, Pilson also worked on other projects, including the creation of the album "Underground Moon" in collaboration with Tommy Henriksen in 2001.

In the mid-1990s, Pilson returned to Dokken, but his stay was short-lived. One of his most successful endeavors was his involvement with the band Dio, with whom he released albums such as "Strange Highways" (1994), "Angry Machines" (1996), and "Master of the Moon" (2004). Pilson also worked as a session bassist for the band Wild Horses, recording albums like "Bareback" in 1991 and "Dead Ahead" in 2003.

In 2010, Pilson participated in a tribute album titled "Mister Bolin's Late Night Revival," featuring previously unreleased tracks by guitarist Tommy Bolin, with proceeds going to the Jackson Recovery Centers.

Although Jeff Pilson is primarily known as a bass guitarist, he is also proficient in guitar, cello, and keyboards. He is a member of the band T & N, which consists of musicians from different eras of Dokken.

In addition to his musical career, Pilson has also ventured into acting. In 2001, he appeared in the film "Rock Star," a musical drama where he portrayed a bass guitarist from the fictional band Steel Dragon.
