Biography of Jennifer Jones

Jennifer Jones is a Canadian athlete and curler who achieved great success in her career. She is best known for winning the gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi without suffering any defeats, making her victory even more impressive.

Early Career

Jennifer Jones started playing curling at the age of 11 and quickly showed her talent in the sport. As a junior, she won three provincial junior championships and one national junior championship. She decided to transition from the junior level to the adult level and formed a team with Karen Porritt, Lynn Fallis-Kurz, and Dana Allerton.

Provincial and National Championships

In 2001, Jennifer Jones and her team reached the final of the Manitoba Scott Tournament of Hearts but unfortunately lost. However, they were able to win the tournament the following year, which allowed them to compete at the national level. They managed to secure the third place in the round-robin, but were defeated in the playoffs.

In the following years, Jones made some changes to her team, but the results did not improve significantly. However, in 2005, she made a remarkable shot during the Scott Tournament of Hearts, earning her team four points in the final and clinching the victory. This shot became a topic of discussion in the curling community and was widely admired.

In the 2007-2008 season, Jennifer Jones achieved several notable victories, including the Autumn Gold Grand Slam and the Manitoba Provincial Championship. The pinnacle of her success came at the World Championships, where her team became the champions by defeating China in the final game.

In 2010, Jennifer Jones won a bronze medal at the Olympics, and in 2013, she secured her place in the Canadian Olympic team. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, she led the team as the skip and not only won the gold medal but also became the first female skip in Olympic history to go undefeated throughout the entire championship.

Outside of curling, Jennifer Jones works as a lawyer at National Bank Financial. She is currently in a relationship with curler Brent Laing, and they have a daughter named Isabella.
