Jerzy Janowicz is a Polish professional tennis player. Born on November 13, 1990, in Lodz, Poland, Janowicz first stepped onto a tennis court at the age of five. His parents, Anna and George, were former professional volleyball players.
Tennis Career
Janowicz's breakthrough in junior tennis came in 2007 when he reached the final of the US Open Junior Championship. Although he lost to Ričardas Berankis in the final, he continued to excel in junior tournaments. In 2008, he became a finalist in the French Open Junior Championship but was unable to overcome Taiwan's Yang Tsung-Hua.
Throughout his career, Janowicz achieved his highest ranking in singles, reaching 64th place in the world rankings in October 2012. In doubles, he reached a career-high of 257th place. In the same year, he reached 264th place in the doubles rankings.
Notable Achievements
Janowicz played a crucial role in Poland's victory over Great Britain in the Davis Cup, winning against Daniel Evans with a score of 6-3, 6-3, 7-6. However, he was defeated by the fourth-ranked player in the world, Andy Murray, with a score of 3-6, 4-6, 3-6.
