Jessica Curphey: The Young Woman with Four Kidneys
Jessica Curphey, a young British woman, was shocked to discover that she had four kidneys during a medical examination. Initially, doctors believed that she had developed a cyst on one of her kidneys, but it later became evident that it was another kidney. During the surgery, a fourth kidney was also found. Astonishingly, three out of the four kidneys were located on one side.

A Surprising Diagnosis
In 2013, 20-year-old Jessica Curphey from Surrey, England, sought medical attention at Surrey's St Helier Hospital. She complained of excruciating pain in the kidney area, and upon examination, it appeared to be a 17-centimeter cyst on one of her kidneys. The doctors immediately scheduled her for surgery to remove the growth. However, a few days later, follow-up scans disproved the cyst theory, and the medical professionals were certain that Jessica had two kidneys instead of one on one side. Regardless, she still required surgery. It was during the operation that the fourth kidney was discovered, revealing that Jessica had been blessed with four kidneys instead of the usual two, with three of them situated on one side.

An Unexpected Experience
Jessica had a hard time comprehending the news of her extraordinary gift from nature, which granted her twice as many kidneys as needed. She couldn't help but think about the countless individuals on the verge of death due to the lack of a functioning kidney. Deeply affected by the unfairness of the world, Jessica actively engaged in fundraising for kidney disease research through a company.
A Mother's Perspective
Jessica's mother, Alison, rushed from Manchester to Surrey after hearing the news of her daughter's hospitalization. She revealed that Jessica had never been sick during her childhood, and there were no suspicions about her daughter's kidney condition. Later, the doctors acknowledged that Jessica had come dangerously close to the edge, as her third kidney was severely infected and irreversible consequences could have occurred at any moment. Fortunately, the operation was a success, and Jessica quickly recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
Smiler: The Inspirational Patient
The hospital staff affectionately nicknamed Jessica "Smiler," as her positive attitude charmed everyone around her. Despite her hospital bed, she actively raised funds for charity. Cases of individuals having three or more kidneys instead of two are extremely rare. There are only around a hundred documented cases in medicine and literature, making Jessica Curphey's case a unique contribution to medical history that will undoubtedly be studied and referenced in the future.
