Chi Il-joo was born on November 7, 1985, in Seoul, South Korea. The Scorpio-born artist excelled in mathematics during his time at Songmoon Middle School, ranking among the top 10% in the country. Initially aspiring to become a math teacher, his priorities shifted after joining a theater club. He went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Theater from the Seoul Institute of the Arts.
After completing his military service, he pursued a double major in Acting and Music at the Chung-Ang University Graduate School of Arts.
Acting Career
Chi Il-joo's acting career began in 2007 with a brief appearance in the television series "Likeable or Not." His debut was followed by roles in "Women of the Sun" (2008) and "Princess Chamyeon" (2009). However, it was his portrayal of Lee Hong-gi in the historical drama "Basketball" that garnered him attention.
Breakthrough and Rising Popularity
Chi Il-joo's breakthrough came in 2016 with his role as the botanist Go Doo-yeon in the JTBC series "Page Turner." His acclaimed performance led to a string of offers for similar characters, prompting him to actively expand his acting range.
