Biography of Jiang Zemin
Jiang Zemin, the former President of China and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, was born on August 17, 1926, in Yancheng, Jiangsu province. He studied at Jiaotong University in Shanghai, majoring in electrical engineering. Jiang joined the Communist Party of China a year before graduating from university in 1947.
After the liberation of Shanghai from the Kuomintang forces and the establishment of the People's Republic of China, Jiang worked at the I Shanghai Factory for Food Products, initially as a deputy engineer and later as the head of the technical department, chief of the energy workshop, secretary of the Communist Party cell, and the first deputy director.
Subsequently, Jiang Zemin worked as the first deputy director of a soap factory in Shanghai and the head of the special department of electrical equipment at the second Shanghai branch of the design bureau of the First Ministry of Machinery of China. In 1955-1956, he underwent an internship at the ZIS Moscow Automobile Plant in the Soviet Union. Upon his return to China, he pursued a career in the machinery industry, eventually rising to positions within the Ministry of Machinery.
In 1982, Jiang Zemin was appointed the first deputy minister of the electronic industry of China, and in 1983, he became the minister of the electronic industry. He was also elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. In 1985, Jiang was appointed as the mayor of Shanghai. In the late 1980s, he was elected as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Chairman of the Military Commission.
In 1993, Jiang Zemin was elected as the President of the People's Republic of China and the Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China. He was re-elected to these positions in 1998 while continuing to serve as the General Secretary of the party.

Jiang Zemin's political image may not be particularly expressive, but he is undoubtedly more humane than his predecessors. It is known that he is knowledgeable in Chinese literature and art, a lover of classical music, and plays the flute. He is proficient in the Russian language and speaks English, often using proverbs and sayings in his conversations. Jiang is married to Wang Yeping, who is a mechanical engineer by profession, and they have two sons.
