Craig Goldy: American Guitarist and Songwriter

Craig Goldy, an acclaimed American guitarist and songwriter, has graced the stages with numerous renowned bands, including Dio, Rough Cutt, Budgie, and others.

Early Career: Rough Cutt and Giuffria

Goldy's musical journey began with the band Vengeance. He later joined Rough Cutt as a replacement for Jake E. Lee. With Goldy on guitar, Rough Cutt recorded several demos that gained airplay on KGB FM in San Diego. However, Goldy departed before the band's debut album was recorded, making way for Amir Derakh.

Goldy subsequently became a member of Giuffria, led by former Angel keyboardist Gregg Giuffria. He contributed to the band's participation in the Hear 'n Aid project.

Joining Dio

After Vivian Campbell's departure from Dio, Ronnie James Dio invited Goldy to fill his place. Goldy's tenure with Dio spanned several years, leaving an indelible mark on the band's sound. During this time, he co-wrote Dio's 1991 hit song "Lady Luck" with David Lee Roth.

Third Stint with Dio and Budgie

Goldy temporarily left Dio in 2005 after sustaining a hand injury during a tour in Russia. Former Dio guitarist Doug Aldrich stepped in as his replacement. Goldy also served as a guest guitarist for the hard rock band Budgie.
